In commemoration of Hangul Day (October 9), Starbucks Korea has incorporated Hangul –which has been designated as National Treasure of Korea No. 70, and registered with the UNESCO Memory of the World, and native alphabet of the Korean language into a motif to create a refined, modern style for a rechargeable Starbucks Card. Hangul consonants, such as “ㄱ”, “ㅅ”, and “o”, are printed inside a grid of monochrome diamond patterns, accented by a neon pink color to add a contemporary mood. The card case is designed to enhance the style of this card, along with a brief explanation of the meaning and history of Hangul.
